(Clermont County, OH)--A  bar and a bartender are facing charges in connection with a fatal crash.

Investigators said that Todd Shaw purchased 13 alcoholic beverages during a three-hour visit at Ethel's Tavern Feb. 21 in Loveland.

Police said Shaw drove away from Ethel's and hit Fred Carey, who was riding a bicycle, on Round Bottom Rd.   Carey taught school at Cincinnati Country Day.

Ethel's Tavern and the bartender, Linda Commer, 60, are cited for furnishing alcohol to an intoxicated person.  Courtroom testimony during the sentencing indicated that Shaw was being served "generous pours."

Investigators said that Ethel's was the second bar Shaw visited that day. He has seven prior drunk driving charges.

Charges against the bartender are misdemeanors. The charges against the bar are civil citations.

Shaw received a nine and a half year prison term, and is banned for life from driving.
