Cranley said the rumors that Dohoney was being forced out were not true. He said that they reached a mutual agreement on his resignation.  Cranley said he had been in discussions with Dohoney since Saturday.

Dohoney will resign when Cranley is sworn into office on Dec. 1. He said he was hoping for a clean and fresh start for the city.  Cranley said he will likely appoint an interim city manager until he and the new Council can formally hire someone new.

Dohoney was hired by Mayor Mark Mallory and City Council in June of 2006.

Under the terms of his contract, Dohoney will be entitled to his one-year salary of $185,000 if he is found to have been fired without cause.
