Cost to Take Ohio’s GED Test is Going Up

(Cincinnati)--The cost for thousands of people who take the Ohio GED test is going to rise at the start of the New Year.

In January the GED test will cost around $120 due to the switch from a paper test to a computerized version. More than 19,000 Ohioans without high school diplomas took the GED last year, 13,000 of them passed.

But thanks to $4 million allotted in the state budget, test-takers have a chance to get an $80 voucher toward the increased cost of the GED.

According to The Ohio Department of Education the vouchers will be given to test-takers, if they meet with a counselor beforehand, at one of Ohio's 91 career-technical districts.
