(Cincinnati) The Cincinnati Zoo has lost one of its Sumatran Rhinos. Considered one of the the most endangered of all rhino species and perhaps the most endangered large mammal on earth, it is estimated that no more than 100 animals exist. "Suci" the female Sumatran rhino was born at the Cincinnati Zoo in 2004. She passed away Sunday. Caretakers noticed she was losing weight several months ago. They believed she was suffering from hemochromatosis, otherwise known as iron storage disease. It is very hard to diagnose but Suci's mother died from the hereditary disease in 2009. A necropsy was performed Monday, but it will be several weeks before the zoo will have the final results.
