( St Louis, Missouri ) - A federal judge in Missouri has now delayed Joseph Paul Franklin's execution. He was scheduled to die just after 1am eastern time for killing 42-year-old Gerald Gordon outside a St Louis synagogue in 1977.
The judge says a lawsuit filed by Franklin and 20 other death row inmates challenging Missouri's death row protocols must be dealt with.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters talked to Bill Cunningham on Tuesday, recounting his knowlege of the Franklin case. He says Franklin admitted that he killed two teens in Bond Hill in 1980 specifically because they were black. He had apparently been waiting for hours to kill an interracial couple. Franklin also admitted to shooting Hustler publisher Larry Flynt.
