Head Start Hit with Automatic Federal Spending Cuts

Head Start will have to turn away thousands of kids nationwide this school year due to automatic federal spending cuts.

The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Barbara Haxton the executive director of Ohio Head Start Association Inc., says the cuts also mean that health care service for nearly 200 Ohio babies and their family's.

The cuts will reduce the amount of kids in the preschool program by more than 57,000 nationwide. Ohio will see their Head Start preschool program drop by more than 1,800 this school year.

More than one million children are in the Head Start program, which helps prepare them for elementary school, provides them with healthy meals and health care.
