Kentucky Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

( Independence, Kentucky ) - A statement from the Department of Defense says 27-year-old Specialist Christopher Landis of Independence, Kentucky, has been killed in Afghanistan.

Landis' dismounted patrol was attacked by rocket-propelled grenades in Kapisa Province. He died from his injuries at Bagram Airfield.

He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Funeral services are pending.
