(Cincinnati) The City of Cincinnati is unlikely to get a $5 million dollar federal grant to help run the streetcar because the request got a poor rating by the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments transportation planning agency. The poor rating was based on low rated cost-effectiveness and regional priority. Ratings help the agency determine which projects will get funding. Right now, there are no plans for replacing the money which was tagged for streetcar operating cost that already have a projected deficit of 2 million dollars for the first year. City Council Member Chris Smitherman speaking on 55 KRC said unless more money is found to operate the streetcar Council could vote to shut it down.
