(Sharonville, OH)--Ribbon cutting and an open house Sunday for the new Princeton High School.

Princeton Superintendent Dr. Gary Pack called the new school a 22nd Century building in the 21st Century.

The facility includes:

  • An energy dashboard to monitor lights, HVAC, Internet, room and building temperatures 24/7.
  • Automatic shutdown of classroom lights in 30 seconds when no one is using the room.
  • Roof design to accommodate up to 180,000 square feet of solar panels in the future.
  • Antibacterial door handles and building hardware that cleans every 24 hours to provide for a healthy learning and teaching environment.
  • LED enhanced cameras inside and outside the facility.
  • Advanced LED lighting inside and outside the facility.
  • A diesel-powered generator that will maintain electrical and Internet service during times of power outages.
  • Solid steel lockdown doors that can be controlled by a computer for instant access, safety and security.

Voters in the Princeton school district approved the $120 million project in May, 2010. Construction of the high school finishes the district's 50-year plan for building construction.

The middle school, which is part of the same complex, opened in 2013.
