( Frankfort, Kentucky ) - "It's time for Kentucky's third counterattack against the coronavirus." That from Gov Andy Beshear before he announced a series of new restrictions to try to drive down this current spike in Covid19 that's got the Bluegrass State reporting over 2,700 new cases just on Wednesday.
Starting November 20, there will be a limit of one other household to visit in a private gathering. Even then, the limit is 8 people total allowed in a home. Beshear also announced a 25-person limit on those attending weddings and funerals.
There are also new restrictions on dining out: bars and restaurants will be closed for indoor service. He says outdoor seating will be allowed as long as distance is observed. To help business owners, the governor announced a $40 million fund that bars and restaurants can apply for to help stay afloat.
Continuing, gyms will be allowed to operate at 33% capacity with mandatory masking while exercising, and no group classes allowed.
All of the above restrictions are in effect from Nov 20 to Dec 13.
Gov Beshear then moved on to schools, saying he knows children do better in the classroom, but more has to be done to prevent sickness from spreading. Starting Monday, Nov 23, all public and private schools in Kentucky, K-12, will stop in-person instruction. Elementary schools may reopen Dec 7 if their county isn't in the "red zone." Middle and High Schools will stay remote until Jan 4.
