AP: Reds break from slump, start getting players back
In a sense, Cincinnati's season is just getting started.
The Reds opened with eight players on the disabled list, the most in the majors. Among the missing: closer Aroldis Chapman, setup relievers Jonathan Broxton and Sean Marshall, starter Mat Latos and catcher Devin Mesoraco.
One by one, they're getting them back. And it's making a difference.

Did you miss it?
Can you imagine growing up in Cincinnati and then playing for the Reds? That was my dream growing up in Anderson Township. Joe Heffront and Jack Heffron have written 'The Local Boys', a book profiling the 105 sons of Cincinnati who played for the Cincinnati Reds.
Jack joined me in-studio Thursday night from 8-8:30. Podcast here:

This is cool

Cyclones take playoff opener: ORLANDO, Florida – Four different Cincinnati players had multi-point efforts as the Cyclones (1-0 playoffs) knocked off the Orlando Solar Bears (0-1 playoffs) by a 4-2 final score in front of 4,609 at Amway Center on Thursday night. The victory gave the Cyclones a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

Event for a causeBone Marrow Drive
From Melissa:
We are hosting a Bone Marrow Donor Drive this Saturday (April 19th) from 12-4 pm at Fairfield West Elementary in Fairfield: 4700 River Rd, Fairfield, OH 45014.
We are holding this event for my best friend’s father, Jeff Millner. He has leukemia, CLL and DLB and he is truly relying on a Bone Marrow match for his survival.  We have done and are doing everything we can to get the word out!
To join the Bone Marrow Registry on Saturday, all it takes is a quick and painless cheek swab.  Also, it is free to those between the ages of 18-44, as those are the donors whose Bone Marrow would most likely be used.  It’s also important for people to understand that even if they are not a match to Jeff, they may very well be a match to one of the many in need for this type of transplant.  So many lives will be impacted by this!  The Easter Bunny will also be there. We will be having a “bake and craft sale”, as well as, Easter Eggs and Easter grab bags for the children!
All proceeds will go to Be The Match for their professional hosting of  the event.  It costs Be The Match $100 per donor between the ages of 18 and 44 to process their swab and registry.  So, all of the financial donations and even better, the cheek swabs we can get will be awesome!!
If people are unable to attend the event, they can go to and type in the code: ohio to donate.  They can register here and will receive a kit to perform the cheek swab at home for FREE!
