It could get interesting from here.

When the TSA announced they were relaxing their policy on allowing small knives onto commercial flights, the reaction was loud and predictable. The idea of increasing speed at the (possible) expense of safety had flight attendant groups, insurance companies and airline executives announcing their opposition to the new TSA decision.

However, in a few states the TSA policy on knives may not be an issue at all.

Michigan, California and Massachusetts have standing laws which prohibit carrying pocketknives of any size onto airport property. Anyone who is caught carrying such could face (in Michigan) a $1,000 fine and a jail sentence of one year.

If the efforts of various groups, including lawmakers, fail to keep the TSA from enacting their new and relaxed policy of allowing passengers to carry small knives onto planes in late April, look for other states to follow the lead of Michigan, California and Massachusetts.

Let the games begin!
