Ranking the new coaches: The confidence game
The Sporting News
Ever entered a weekly confidence pool during the NFL season? If there are 16 games, you assign 16 confidence points to the team you most expect to succeed, 15 to the team you like second-best, and so on. It ain’t complicated.
And neither is this confidence pool-style rating of the 16 new coaches mentioned above.
1 points: Tommy Tuberville, Cincinnati. Wow, even we’re surprised to have Tubs all the way down at the bottom of this list. But you know it as well as we do: There’s nothing whatsoever about this man that says Cincinnati. And how can Bearcats fans trust him after the shocking abruptness with which he dumped Texas Tech? It’s been a long way down from 14-0 at Auburn. Something tells us there’s no going back.

Supplemental draft
Geoff Hobson, Bengals.com
Rob Rang, the draft guru of CBSSports.com, believes the Bengals can go to town because while others teams are filling the most important positions, they focus on immediate needs.
"This is a draft where you don't want the top 10 pick. You want to have a number of picks in the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s. The player at 35 is pretty much the same player at 10. To me, that's one of the reasons I kind of like Cincinnati's position.

Terrelle Pryor will have chance to start for Raiders
Fox Sports
Not all of Oakland’s woes were his fault, but Palmer has failed to become the franchise quarterback the previous Raiders regime thought it was acquiring when sending first- and second-round picks to Cincinnati for his services midway through the 2011 season. The 33-year-old Palmer is a potential candidate for release because of his scheduled $13 million salary in 2013, but McKenzie didn’t indicate that such a move was in the offing.

John Harbaugh's remarkable journey
CSNPhilly.com
John Harbaugh felt trapped.
It was the mid-1990s, and Harbaugh had been coaching special teams at the University of Cincinnati since the late 1980s. He was in his late 30s, and his coaching career seemed to be headed nowhere.

Prospect Watch: Top 10 left-handed pitchers
MLB.com
6. Tony Cingrani, Reds: Taken in the third round by the Reds in 2011, Cingrani was a senior reliever when he signed out of Rice. He has pitched extremely well as a starter in pro ball, topping the Minors in ERA and finishing second in strikeouts during his first full season. That earned him a brief callup to the big leagues. Cingrani’s fastball and changeup are both above average and are good enough for him to excel out of the bullpen. If his slider can improve, the 2012 California League All-Star will have the chance to be a very good starter.
