Final: Reds 8 Giants 1, 6 inning rain shortened game
I capped off vacation by going to the game with Casey. I'm not sure I've ever seen it rain that hard at GABP. We eventually took refuge at the Holy Grail Banks. Flip the calendar from June, put the Reds at GABP, toss in the long ball and boom, looked like a different team. When is the last time they scored four runs in an inning? And they had five hits in an inning.
Runs at GABP!
From the Reds
The Reds scored more than 5 runs in a game at GABP for the first time since 5/28 vs Cle (8-2 win). It snaps a 13-game stretch in which the Reds had scored 5 runs or fewer at home. Was their longest such stretch since a 14-game stretch over the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
*Reds' last rain-shorted completed game: 9/22/06 vs Cubs at GABP (4-2 win in 5 innings).
*Cory Lidle is last Reds pitcher to throw a rain-shortened complete game (4/22/04 vs Atlanta, 5 innings, 5-3 win, game called after 1:47 delay).
Kung Food Panda?
There is no question Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval can hit. There is also no question he can eat.
I don't know how the Giants can play him at third. The guy struggles to bend over. He's a DH or a beer league softball player. I'd put him at 1B, but I'd be afraid he'd split his pants.
