Homer Bailey reaction
Wednesday reminded me, once again, why I've got the best job going.
Check out who I talked to about Homer Bailey's magical no-hit night at GABP.
Ryan Hanigan checked in as the leadoff guest at 3:05.
Sean Casey talked about celebrating his 39th birthday and calling the game for MLB Network.
Tom Browning told me how he learned of the no-hitter....checking his phone between games of their doubleheader at rookie ball Billings.
Thom Brennaman compared Homer's performance to other no-hitter's he has called.
Jim Maloney, talked about Homer's dominance. Jim also told the story of throwing 187 pitches in his 1965 no-hitter vs the Cubs, a 1-0 win in 10 innings. Including warmup pitches, he threw 317 pitches!

Final: Reds 3 Giants 0
Wow...what a night! Homer Bailey tossed his second career no-hitter and the 16th no-hitter in franchise history. Bailey walked just one batter, Gregor Blanco with one out in the 7th.
He had retired the first 18 batters of the game, the longest perfect start of his career.
He retired the first 11 batters on Aug. 29, 2011.
Bailey had a 1-0 lead to work with until Brandon Phillips hit a 2-run home run in the 6th inning.
He was hitting 97 mph in the 9th. What a scene on the field for the final out!
He threw 109 pitches, 74 for strikes, and struck out 9.
Bailey threw first pitch strikes to 19 of 28 batters.
17 called strikes, 17 swinging strikes, 23 foul balls, 17 in-play strikes
8 ground balls, 10 fly balls
Here is the boxscore
Votto's play of the game:
7th inning: With Gregor Blanco on second (walk/Scutaro groundout), Buster Posey hit a chopper to Joey Votto. Bailey was late getting over to cover, Votto fielded and probably would not have beaten Posey to the bag. Votto saw Blanco heading to 3rd and threw to Todd Frazier to get Blanco on a fielder's choice.
