Is the Jets DL the best in the NFL?
With so much talent on the line, this should come as no surprise. The Jets have spent a first-round pick on a defensive lineman in each of the past three years, picking up Muhammad Wilkerson (2011), Coples (2012) and Sheldon Richardson (2013).
Passing grades for Geno Smith, with room to improve
The first two months have been a mix of good, bad and ugly for Smith, who has been chasing consistency from the moment he became the starter. He’s the first quarterback since the 1970 merger to have four fourth-quarter or overtime game-winning drives in his first seven games. He has a better completion percentage than Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Michael Vick and Colin Kaepernick.
“He’s not playing like a deer in the headlights,” Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. “He doesn’t necessarily look like a rookie quarterback.”

Dalton only tuned into wins

“You never quiet the critics as a quarterback. Ever,” Gruden said. “You just have to continue to produce and be consistent at the position. Ultimately, you want to win the final game and maybe someday (the critics) can stop writing that he can’t throw far enough.”

The Bengals today returned WR Andrew Hawkins to practice, on a roster exemption.
Hawkins is on the Reserve/Injured list, due to an ankle injury suffered in preseason, but he was designated for possible return under NFL rules.
Today starts a three-week window during which Hawkins may practice with the team without being counted against the 53-player active roster limit. He could be added to the roster at any time during this three-week period.
Hawkins (5-7, 180; Toledo) is a third-year NFL player. He played in 14 games last season and finished third on the team in receptions (51) and receiving yards (533), with four touchdowns.
