The Bengals today made the following roster and practice squad moves:
The Bengals today were notified by the NFL that DT Christo Bilukidi, who is from Canada, does not have the proper documentation to work in the United States at this time. The work permit Bilukidi had with the Oakland Raiders, for whom he played earlier this season, will not currently transfer.
Therefore, the contract Bilukidi signed earlier today with Cincinnati has been voided. When Bilukidi’s documentation is properly filed, he will again be eligible to sign with an NFL team.
* Placed DT Geno Atkins on the Reserve/Injured list. Atkins, in his fourth Bengals and NFL season, suffered a major knee injury (torn ACL) in last week’s Thursday night game at Miami. Through the Miami game, he leads the team in sacks (6.0) and has 29 tackles. Atkins last season was a first-team selection on the Associated Press All-Pro team, leading all NFL interior linemen in sacks (12.5). He has played in the last two Pro Bowls.
* Signed free agent DT Christo Bilukidi to the roster. Bilukidi (pronounced “bill-oo-KEE-dee”) is a second-year NFL player from Georgia State. He was a sixth-round draft choice of Oakland in 2012 and played in 13 games, with 12 tackles. He played in Oakland’s first five games this season, with four tackles, including a sack. He was waived by the Raiders on Oct. 23.
* Signed rookie LB Bruce Taylor to the practice squad, filling the spot that was opened last week when Cleveland signed OT Reid Fragel to its roster. Taylor (6-1, 245; Virginia Tech) entered the NFL this past spring as a college free agent with Cincinnati. He played in all four Bengals preseason games, with 10 tackles. He was waived by the Bengals on Aug. 31.From Sept. 24 through Oct. 7 of this season, he was on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad.
