( Fairfield ) - The Reverend Robert Poandl is in the Butler County Jail, on a federal indictment for sex abuse.
Poandl is a member of the Glenmary Home Missioners and has apparently been in the Fairfield area living under what the Missioners' website calls a "safety plan" since February of 2012. That's when he was stripped of his ministerial duties because of multiple sexual misconduct complaints in Georgia.
These federal charges are from an incident in 1991, when Father Poandl allegedly transported a 10-year-old boy to West Virginia for sex. The victim came forward in 2009. The charges in West Virginia were dismissed in 2010, but because the victim was allegedly transported across state lines, it qualifies as a federal case.
Father Poandl has another hearing on Monday.
