(Elmwood Place) They are trying to force Elmwood Place to take down its speed cameras. Attorney Mike Allen has gone to court on behalf of people who have received tickets asking a judge to issue a restraining order stopping their use. He has about 300 clients so far in the case. Allen says he has heard over and over that the speed traps were not properly marked and tickets were issued for going a single mile an hour over the speed limit, which the Village has vowed not to do. Allen also says the ticket hearings are not being properly conducted under the law. The legislature in Ohio is looking at another way of ending speed traps in tiny towns by eliminating Mayors Court in communities of less than 1000 people. Representative Courtney Combs of Butler County says there will be a hearing on the measure before the house next week.
