( Newport ) A mother, father and their 33-year-old son were injured when their house in the 1600 block of Waterworks Road exploded on Friday morning. The mother and son suffered critical injuries. 

Firefighters arrived to find the house completely destroyed. Neighbors were woken up by the blast and helped dig through the debris to help free one person. The cause of the blast is under investigation, but firefighters suspect a gas leak.
