Paul Flory will be remembered for a liftetime of accomplishments as a humanitarian and Procter and Gamble executive, but his legacy will be forever tied to the Western and Southern Open.
The tennis world lost a great ambassador in Flory, 90, who died Thursday from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
Flory became tournament directror of the then-called Western Tennis Championship in 1975 and worked as a full time volunteers for the next 36 years, building Cincinnati into one of the world's grandest tennis events.
Becasue of the strides of Flory and his colleagues, many of the men's greats, John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl, Micheal Chang, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have played in Cincinnati.
