(Cincinnati) The man charged in the murder of Tony Thompson will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Lamar Simmons will not be elligible for parole for at least 18 years.
In March 2011, Simmons allegedly shot Thompson in the hallway of an apartment building on Mulberry Street in Over-the-Rhine.
Prosecutors claim Simmons murdered Thompson in retaliation for a call Thompson made to 241-KIDS. Thompson was reporting that several children were left home alone.
In addition to being sentenced to life, Simmons is also under indictment and awaiting trial for the death of Jose Vazquez in 2005.
If Simmons is convicted in that case, he may be sent to death row.
