(Hamilton) Police say an unauthorized solicitor is asking for donations on behalf of the Hamilton Fire Department and its union, Local 20. 

Both agencies warn businesses and the public the donation claim is a scam as they haven't authorized such activity according to police.

The fire department says they want to confirm the identity of the individual or company involved before names are released. 

Anyone who is receiving phone solicitations by individuals claiming to be the City of Hamilton Fire Department is asked to call Hamilton Fire Investigator Tom Angst 513- 785- 7510.
