( Florence ) - Just before 6pm on Friday, multiple calls went out to assist in the rescue of a child trapped in a car that had rolled into water on Surrey Court.

It was a half hour before rescue crews were able to get to the 5-year-old in the car by pulling the vehicle out with a winch.

That boy was rushed to Children's Hospital, where he died.

Linny Cloyd with Florence Police says his people aren't sure how the car came to roll into the pond. The 5-year-old was in the car with his 9-year-old sister and the family dog waiting to go on a trip. The 9-year-old and dog were able to escape.
