(Cincinnati) Three of the six teenagers involved in the assault of a 45-year-old man plead guilty Monday morning.
The group of boys are charged with assaulting Pat Mahaney of North College Hill on August 11, 2012. The boys told the police they beat the man because they were bored and looking for something to do.
Mahaney was hospitalized for four days with internal injuries and bleeding.
In exchange for the prosecutor dropping the aggravated riot charge, the plea deal included the three teens admitting to felonious assault charges.
The teens were indicted under the serious youth offenders statute which means the teens could face either a juvenile or adult sentence if convicted. Each of the teens will be tried separately in juvenile court.
The probation and amount of money the teens will have to pay for Mahaney's medical bills will be determined following an investigation over the next couple weeks.
The pre-trial hearings for the other three teens will be later in March and in April.
