By the time the Department of De-Education was created under President Carter,  America's ingenuity and unbridled brain power had already taken man to the moon. Engineers and architects educated in public schools had designed and built bridges, tunnels, interstate highways, skyscrapers, homes and factories that are still standing and operating today. Doctors and scientists who were originally taught in places like Your Hometown High had realized breakthroughs in medicine and technology that made this country the shining beacon of learning and innovation of the entire world. What happened? Oh yeah, Federal government involvement.

Before the taxpayer sucking and over reaching bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. started meddling in our students classrooms and with their minds, American kids knew how to conjugate an intelligent sentence. If you asked public school students today what that even meant, many would think you are saying something dirty. Prior to Big Brother getting involved in local schools, the majority of those graduating had a handle on real American history and the Constitution. Spelling and writing were not mere afterthoughts on the landscape of academia. There was real problem solving and critical thinking going on in classrooms without the aid of a computer.

What has happened since the advent of billions of dollars being wasted at the Federal level on public schools? How about lower test scores, graduation rates, and a brain drain that has relegated the U.S. to bottom feeder status among developed countries. You can see evidence of it everyday. A bunch of young corporate execs who can barely tie their shoes, much less balance a bottom line. That last bit of information should not surprise anyone since so much of the curriculum is inspired by the fiscal idiots we put in charge in Washington. They haven't truly balanced a budget in eons.

I say, when it comes to the promised and much needed cuts in Federal spending, the first place to start is the Department of De-Education. This elephant in the room is one of the biggest wastes of money the citizenry has ever put up with. It is also a major reason why Johnny can't read- anything but a text message.
