In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s
birthday, a few words about diversity.
One of the greatest roadblocks to real
equality among people has been the 'so
called' celebration of our differences.
Slavery, not only in America but in the
history of mankind, is a 'celebration' of
diversity. Hitler's Nazi Germany was
equally a celebration. Ethnic cleansing
in Bosnia? You bet.
As our country once again pauses to
to honor the man who dreamed
that one day children would be judged
"by the content of their character, not
the color of their skin", we should
hearken back to that most important
message.
Let us celebrate our commonality. That
spirit would truly honor Dr. King.
