You've heard of "Black Friday."  It's the day after Thanksgiving when you're encouraged to head out to "big box" retailers and run up your credit cards.  All in the holiday spirit, of course.

The truth is the American economy is made up mostly of small businesses.  Shops and restaurants owned by neighbors in your community.  It's these businesses that make our towns vibrant and strong.  You've heard me talk about the importance of buying and shopping local on 700WLW for years.

On Saturday, November 24th, when you're out shopping for the perfect gift, I hope you will join me in shopping at local retailers.  And when you're looking for a bite to eat or a cold draught that day, stop at a restaurant that is locally owned.

On my side of town, in Anderson Township, if you're looking for jewelry check out Markus Jewelers on 8 Mile.  Or if you're looking for a tasty burger and a cold draught check out Anderson Bar and Grill on Beechmont.

Small Business Saturday is November 24.

"Ho, Ho, Ho!"
