Murder Most Fowl!

 

Poor Jose Luis Ochoa.  All he wanted was a relaxing night of cockfighting, instead he was killed by a rouge chicken armed with a knife.  In other words, Jose was killed by a cock.  You can’t make this stuff up.

 

The New York Daily News has the story.

 

A California man attending a cockfight was stabbed to death by a bird that had a knife attached to its own limb.


Jose Luis Ochoa, 35, of Lamont, died about two hours after he was injured in neighboring Tulare County on Jan. 30, according to the Kern County coroner.


"I have never sent his type of incident," Sgt. Martin King, a 24-year vet of the sheriff's department, told the Bakersfield Californian.


Ochoa died of accidental "sharp force injury" to his right calf, according to the autopsy.


Onlookers fled when cops arrived at the scene of the fight, King told the local newspaper. Authorities, acting on an anonymous tip, found five dead roosters and other evidence of cockfighting at the location.


No arrests were made at the fight.

Lesbians Not Allowed

To Divorce

 

It was bound to happen.  First the battle for gay marriage.  Now the battle for gay divorce.  This one’s tricky though.  Lesbians Brenda Mueller and Deborah Pry got married in Vermont.  They live in Nebraska where gay marriage is outlawed.  Now here’s the real kick in the pants.  In Nebraska, a divorce can only be granted between a man and woman.

Nebraska City, Neb. — Brenda Mueller and Deborah Pry had a hard time getting married. Now they're having an even harder time getting divorced.

The lesbian couple from Nebraska got married in Vermont in a ceremony that was at the time considered a civil union. Since then, Vermont has legalized gay marriage.

Last September, they filed for divorce in Otoe County Court, NECN.com reports, after they had already agreed upon a custody arrangement for their young daughter.

But the judge said since Nebraska law defines a marriage as being between a man and a woman, a divorce can only be between a man and a woman.

"The first thing we tell same-sex couples who live in a non-recognition state: Think long and hard before you get married and returned home. Not only do you face the lack of access to divorce courts, you lack the safeguards that state marriage laws provide different-sex married couples," Lambda Legal attorney Ken Upton told NECN.
