I’ve produced a lot of promos over the years.
Here are some of the good ones.
Real Tri-State Heroes
One of the things I love about the BBC’s show Top Gear, is that it flips political correctness the bird. At one point or another, every nationality gets a poke in the ribs… mostly Americans, who are constantly referred to as fat gun toting murders.
A few days ago, the hosts made a few unflattering comments about
The Daily Mail has the story.
Hammond was discussing a Mexican sports car and suggested that vehicles reflect the national characteristics of the country they are from.
Here’s a clip of the offending statement
His real name is John Lydon, but you and I know him as Johnny Rotten, the lead singer for the Sex Pistols. The Sex Pistols only lasted two years, but they're influencing music even today. The Pistols, along with the Ramones lead the way for Punk Rock… a loud, no nonsense, finger-pointing escape for people like me who couldn’t stand disco music.
Punk was raw, wild, in your face, and from the street, but Punk started dying out when it became mainstream and every other person had a rainbow Mohawk and a safety pin shoved through their nose.
So why bring up Johnny Rotten? He’s got a new book coming out… a scrapbook, full of his pictures and stories of the Sex Pistols. In the book, this dedicated rocker explains why he went on Judge Judy, why he became a spokesman for a butter company, and more. It ought to be good.
Johnny discusses the book.
Johnny Rotten butter salesman?
This is what Punk was all about… sailing up and down the
Johnny Rotten on Judge Judy? WTF?
A new study says that half the men asked said it’s was OK with them if their girlfriend cheated on them with another woman. There’s no mention of whether the boyfriends get to watch… that would sweeten the deal for some.
Before Eric Adams became a state senator, he served for 22 years as a member of the New York Police Department. He knows a thing or two about crime, and now he’s teaching you how to spy on your kids to see of they’re packing a gun or doing drugs.
Some parents are outraged. They think their kids actually have privacy rights. Mr. Adams disagrees. He says parents write the constitution inside their homes. Can you really trust your kids?
Watch senator Adams’ video.
Maybe you’ve seen this show already. I discovered it over the weekend. It’s called An Idiot Abroad, and for some reason it runs on the Science Channel. Finally, there’s a reason to watch the Science Channel.
Here’s the low-down on the show. Think of a not-so-bright, somewhat grouchy person who’s not big on travel, or learning about the cultures of others – then send him around the world and watch him squirm as he deals with bizarre foods, rituals and lifestyles.
Below is a little taste of the show… it’s the first part of the
I’ve been wondering why the Old Spice campaign with the “Old Spice Guy” suddenly disappeared after being so successful. It’s a brilliant concept. It’s funny, an ad you want to watch, and it does a great job of pushing the product… do you realize how difficult it is to create something like that?
Well, it looks like P&G (The makers of Old Spice) have finally gotten off their duff and created some new ads. This teaser spot was just put up on You Tube.

You Gotta Be Kidding!
Recently it was learned that the Water Front Commission was conducting a six month probe known as Operation Missing Link… to discover who swiped an ice tea and sausage from a lunch truck… retail value $2.50!
The New York Daily News has the story.
On the mobbed-up docks of Bayonne, the six-month probe was known as Operation Missing Link.
Its target: A suspect who swiped a $2 bottle of iced tea and used it to wash down a stolen 50-cent piece of sausage - the lost link that left a bad taste in everybody's mouth, sources told the Daily News.
An investigation of the penny-ante heist was ordered by the Waterfront Commission, the agency charged with policing the docks for mob corruption, drug smuggling and other major crimes, the sources said.
The investigation included scores of interviews over countless hours dating to last August, sources said - even though the victim was reluctant to press charges.
"It's like Capt. Queeg and the strawberries," said New Jersey state Sen. Raymond Lesniak, a harsh critic of the bistate commission.
"It's a $2.50 ongoing investigation."
One of the sources was more blunt: "The whole investigation is bull----. It's a waste of manpower, money and resources."
Waterfront Commission General Counsel Phoebe Soriel, while declining to address specifics, said the case was more complex than it appeared.
"While the commission does not comment on pending investigations, it takes any theft in the port seriously - especially theft involving extortion," she said without going into detail.
The reported value of the stolen goods - a handful of change - is a microfraction of the $200 billion that moves annually through the ports of New York and New Jersey.
The overkill began when the commission received an anonymous tip that someone filched the drink and the sausage from a food truck catering to dock workers.
According to two sources, the case was quickly wrapped up: The thief confessed to the crime, and the victim said an arrest was unnecessary.
The victim "didn't want to see him behind bars...just wanted him to stop," one source said.
But top commission officials, convinced its investigators mishandled the case, ordered a second probe with every possible witness reinterviewed, the sources said.

I usually try to share funny stories with you on this blog. Today is different. I stumbled across this story in a foreign newspaper. I don’t know why I didn’t see it in an American newspaper.
I’ll be honest, the story is graphic. The video is even more graphic. Two people are stoned to death by the Taliban for committing adultery. Did they really commit adultery? Who knows. But just imagine if you could be accused of such a crime and be sentenced to death by stoning… stoned by your neighbors.
A Taliban spokesman said, “Anyone who knows about Islam knows that stoning is in the Koran, and that it is Islamic law.”
Here’s the story.
Horrific video footage has emerged of Taliban insurgents stoning a couple to death for alleged adultery in northern
Hundreds of villagers can be seen on the video standing around as the woman, Siddqa, is buried up to her waist in a four foot hole in the ground.
Two mullahs pass sentence before the crowd begins to throw rocks at her head and body as she desperately tries to crawl free.
But the 19-year-old collapses to the ground, covered in blood - but miraculously still alive.
At this point a Taliban fighter shoots her three times in the head with an AK-47The crowd can be heard shouting allahu akbar as she is killed.
Her lover, Khayyam, is then marched in front of the crowd with his hands tied behind his back.
He is blindfolded with his own tunic and crouches down close to the ground as he tried to protect his body from the stones.
But he is battered to the floor by a barrage of rocks. He can be heard sobbing before eventually falling silent.
The stoning - the first to be documented on film since the Taliban were ousted from power - took place in the district of Dashte Archi, in Kunduz, last August.
Officials said that Siddqa had run away after being sold into an arranged marriage for $9,000 against her will.
She ran away to be with Khayyam, who was already married and had two children, and the pair eloped to
Brutal: Men hurl chunks of rock, some bigger than a fist, during the execution
But it is understand that they returned to their home village after being reassured by leaders that they would be unharmed.
It was a terrible mistake. They were dragged from their families' homes at by Taliban fighters and then put before a kangaroo court before being executed.
