While most police officers interact with the locals through community events, one police officer took a different route to communicate with the locals on a more personal level.
David Oliver, Brimfield Township Police Chief, uses Facebook to interact with the locals.
His postings are a combination of messages and rants. Many times he will talk about criminals or the "Mopes" as he likes to call them, and how they act stupid, lazy, and unlawful.
Oliver will post anything that he thinks is worthy of putting up such as humorous arrests and other times he will post about something that is far from his league like the Boston Marathon bombings or rape case from Steubenville, Ohio.
His postings, which also get posted to Twitter, have drove in dozens of comments from people all over the world.
Even some of the "mopes" have read his posts. Some have asked him not to be mentioned on the page, but Oliver does not oblige.
Olver says that his posts provide answers and a sense of transparency about his work in the force.
His posts are open-ended, but comments will be deleted if profanity is used.
He also is a huge believer in change. When he was younger, his grandparents were the ones that kept him well-grounded and only let him watch T.V. shows such as "The Waltons," "Gunsmoke," and "The Andy Griffith Show."
Griffith was a major influence on him because he really looks up to the respectful and straighforward person that Griffith was.
