No More Stadium Taxes

( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- Representatives of the organization No More Stadium Taxes came down to the Hamilton County Administration Building to try to convince county commissioners to not consider the idea to fund ideas for new stadiums with taxpayer money.

Recently, ideas have been floated to build a new stadium for FC Cincinnati, claiming that will make the idea of Major League Soccer bringing them into the league more appealing. There has also been discussion about whether or not the county or city of Cincinnati should fund renovations to the US Bank Arena so that the NCAA basketball tournament will hold games in town.

Jeff Capell with No More Stadium Taxes says sports stadium subsidies are essentially rip-offs, saying stadium tax proponents put forth phony economic studies to try to convince cities that stadiums will bring forth more revenue for cities and counties.

Capell also says Cincinnatians were lied to when promised the stadium taxes those in the city already pay would only last 20 years and 30% of the money for the stadiums would come back in the form of property tax rollbacks.
