Woman Accused in Fatal Crash was Five Times Over the Legal Limit

Emily Sherry

( Newport, Kentucky ) - A woman is being held in Campbell County Jail on a $2 million bond and facing a murder charge for a drunken driving accident that left one person dead last month.

Police officers in Newport say they could smell the booze and weed in 23-year-old Emily Sherry’s wrecked car on April 21. Her blood alcohol level was allegedly .422, and Kentucky State Police say their measuring equipment exceeded its highest level. Any BAC level above .35 can cause vital organs to shut down, according to experts with the National Institute of Alcohol an Alcoholism.

Police say Sherry’s reaction to being arrested varied. They say she admitted she had been drinking bourbon while babysitting, but said her boyfriend was driving at the time of the crash.

Sherry allegedly hit a car driven by 37-year-old Robert Ransdell on I-275, first responders found him pinned under the vehicle.
