Appeals Court: Doctor Testimony Allowed in Richardson Trial

( Warren County ) - A ruling from an appeals court on Monday is a win for prosecutors in the Brooke Skylar Richardson case.

The 19-year-old from Carlisle is charged with multiple counts including aggravated murder in the death of her newborn baby. Prosecutors want to have doctors, including Richardson's OB-GYN testify at trial, but her defense attorneys argue that any conversations she had with medical professionals fall under doctor-patient confidentiality. On Monday, an appeals court overturned a lower court's decision and said the conversations are admissible.

Two doctors called police after Richardson allegedly told them her baby was stillborn and she buried it in her parents' backyard. Another doctor will also likely provide information about the conversation with Richardson when the teen found out she was pregnant.

There's no word yet on when Richardson's trial will begin. Her defense attorneys could appeal Monday's ruling to a higher court.
