(Rising Sun, IN) - Rising Sun's Police Chief David P. Hewitt was killed in a car crash this morning.
Switzerland County Sheriff Brian Morton and the Mayor of Rising Sun Brett Bascom announced his death today.
Hewitt died from injuries sustained in a car crash at 7:20 a.m. along State Road 56 in the area of Spring Branch Road. Icy Roads are likely to blame for the wreck, officials say.
He joined the police force in 1998 and has been chief since 2004.
