Nursing Home Cases Account for over 10% of COVID-19 Cases in Ohio

More than 10% of the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state of Ohio are at nursing homes or assisted living centers around the state. The Governor ordered the release of the information to the public and is requiring all homes to notify the families of patients when there is a confirmed case in their facility. The first numbers show 836 cases in 107 facilities located in 31 counties.

There are 17 facilities in Hamilton County on the list reporting at least one case of coronavirus. Locally the biggest outbreak has been at Atria Northgate Park where 37 residents or staff members have been diagnosed with the virus. The state health department says nursing homes are at high risk for spread of the disease and say the presence of COVID-19 at a facility is in no way an indicator of a facility that isn't following proper procedures.
