Will One of the Tristate's Premiere Events Move to NYC?

The New York Times is reporting that the U.S Tennis Association is considering holding the Western and Southern Open this year at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York this summer. According to the proposal, the tournament typically played in Mason would be played in NYC right before the US Open. The report says it would be done to reduce the travel for international players and establish a "safer bubble" for the competitors. Organizers of the local tournament are not commenting on the report and have released the following statement:

"No official decision has been made surrounding the 2020 Western & Southern Open at this time. The USTA and Western & Southern Open have been exploring multiple scenarios for the tournament. The number one goal is to hold the tournament, in some form, this summer. In all of our modeling, the health and safety of the players, fans, volunteers and staff will be our greatest concern. To align with the decision-making timeline of the WTA and the ATP, we expect a final decision on the status of the tournament to be made in mid-June"
