Suspect in Custody After Hours-Long Standoff In Oakley

( OAKLEY ) - Cincinnati Police taking a man into custody Friday evening hours after a SWAT standoff began at an apartment in the Oakley neighborhood.

Cincinnati Police Lt. Jonathan Cunningham says officers responded to the building on Milsbrae Avenue off of Markbreit Avenue, between Madison and Edwards Roads, around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon following a 911 hang-up.

As police tried to enter, several shots were reportedly fired by the suspect. No officers were injured.

Other tenants in the apartment were evacuated as police and SWAT surrounded the building with a negotiation team establishing communication with the suspect.

Hours later, police made their way into the apartment, taking the man into custody, with one officer deploying a taser.

The SWAT situation had several roads in the area closed, including a section of Edwards Road to Hyde Park Avenue, which would later re-open after police had the area secured and suspect surrounded
